If you live an an area short of iodine (and not the US that has all salt iodized to avoid the problem) , I guess kelp , which is seaweed would help a lot. The iodine is needed by the thyroid. ..just google thyroid and iodine deficiency, but you probably already know this.
Otherwise too much iodine can maybe be harmful...may trigger autoimmune thyroid disease..it's, like with most things, a balance.

I guess ocean veges would contain a lot of other nutrients, but the iodine in kelp is the main factor in its use or nonuse.
With a borderline low iodine level you could finction slightly hypothyroid ..and suffer from fatigue, depression, fibromyalgia type symptoms.
The ocean water contains a lot of trace elements which may be taken up by the "veges"..eg.I know trace lithium is in ocean water, but I've no idea of their uptake.

Obviously fish somewhere in the feeding chain eat "sea veges" so they should produce omega3...as in terrestial animals that eat grass.

Guess that didn't really answer your question, but that's my limit :-)
