yes, glutamine does seem to be a mental energizer for me initially. It is used to make GABA though (eventually) - M. Lesser recommends in his book to support glutamine with taurine and B6 to make more of this.
I initially found out it was energizing when I took it with some inositol. At the time the two went well together - didn't last though - the inositol eventually disrupted my mood stability completely, and the glutamine must have overburdened a pathway in my brain because it started to make me a bit nuts.
I don't notice much effect from it these days after being on the fish oil for so long - like most things, my hypersensitivity seems to have calmed down to things.
I have come to believe that lithium orotate is kind of the antithesis of inositol. My mood swings were initially totally releived from the inositol by the lithium. Inositol can be quite euphoric and unbalancing where as lithium orotate is very grounding.
