Kira SJW - what doseage is best??

I am abit confused by the Kira SJW (St John's Wort) box. It says to take one pill a day. Each pill contains 300mg of standarised extract.
But I've been reading on the net that the usual dose is 900mg either spead out over the day in three dosings, or all three pills at once.
At the moment, I'm following the box and taking one a day, but I worry that this might not be strong enough.
Now what is the 'usual' dose? Anyone know??
