In reply to Question for Larry: How are those Chinese Herbals?, posted by honeybee on June 9, 2006, at 17:10:57

> I'm so looking forward to my meeting with the TCM herbalist next week... Yay, tailormade prescriptions...Gooder than good, is what it is. My doctor is DCM, D. Ac. Doctor of Chinese Medicine, and Doctor of Acupuncture. He worked his way through school, both five year programs, by working as a translator.
I almost fear acknowledging how good it has become for me, because I have suffered so long. I must grieve the lost time. I shoulda/coulda/woulda seen him a long time ago, if only I had known.....
But that is contrary to my sense of reality, in any case. I got there when I did because the time was ripe for me. And it now bears fruit.
I struggle to accept that it has only been since May 23.....I saw him on the 22nd, but I didn't get home until the evening of the 23rd of May. Just over 3 weeks? No friggin' way! Way!
I posted the anglicized Chinese names of what I'm on, in an earlier post, up yonder somewheres. And, the acupuncture. The man knows his acupuncture. $30, for over an hour of his time and attention.
I touched a nerve, when I honoured his understanding of how to help me. I compared his results to those of Western medicine. For a moment, a cloud came across his face, and he fairly spit out that "Western medicine is *so* arrogant. They think that a Chinese medicine works, it's an accident! Chinese traditional medicine very strong medicine. Is a no accident!"
I can hear his every word, as he said it. I tried to transliterate what I remember of that exchange, as he expressed it to me.
A moment later, he was smiling again, and we joked about something or other. Oh, yeah. His English name, Larry Song. He has discovered that there are very few Larry's out there. And I am not Lawrence. My birth certificate says Larry. And the Chinese people are aware of alliterative meaning. The same word can have different meanings entirely, and those meanings are linked. And this Larry feels ready to burst into song, so.......
It is good. And thank you for asking. I haven't felt better in a decade. And when I gain a further perspective, it may be that I've never felt better in my life. We shall see, about the latter declaration.
