Galantamine can be purchased (legally) without a prescription in the form of plant extracts in capsules. Some even say on the label that it contains 8mg of galantamine hydrobromide extract per capsule. I don't know if that means there are actually 8mg of galantamine per capsule, or just 8mg of the extract per capsule, with some portion of that being the actual galantamine. I'm guessing it's the latter, but i don't know.
Anyway, my question is, do you think any of these natural sources or extracts have significant potency, especially compared to the prescription drug? (By the way, I'm pretty sure 4mg is the lowest available dose by prescription.) I'm not looking to take high doses-- just like 2 to 6mg or so per day or per time.
But the reason I ask is that (1) it's easier to obtain the "natural" version and (2) it's probably a good deal cheaper than the synthetic.
Thank you!
