Well, its not actually 2.5 per day. As you may know prozac has a very long half life. Its half life is 2-3 days from acute dosing and 4-6 after chronic dosing. So what I do is get a script for 10 mg tablets. They are scored and I break it in half. Then I take a half tablet, which is 5 mg, every other day. This is equivalent to 2.5 mg per day. So I'm actually taking 5 mg every other day. I would assume 2.5 liquid everyday would work just as well. Taking half a pill every day blunts my emotions. The only problem I have is headaches. They even last a while after I stop taking it. I've noticed that when I tried pristiq and now mirtazapine it has stopped those headaches. I think that I need a noradrenergic component to prevent headaches. I'm trying to find something that helps more with motivation. I might consider going back on prozac if nothing else helps. This low dose really helps with focusing on one thing and being motivated. I think this is due to increased catecholamines in the prefrontal cortex.
I need to get some more fish oil. I know longer get noticable benefits from magnesium and fish oil but it might be good over a long time. Nature can work a lot slower than meds.
Iatrogenic post-SSRI problems: anhedonia, memory and concentration problems, sexual dysfunction. (not a formal DX)
