Hi Nancy. Thank you for your thoughts. My mother has really bad osteoarthritis, and she did mention that when she was younger she had problems with the thyroid. You said that your arthritis went away with iodine. Did you think it would be wise for her to try the iodine? Would she need a doctor's approval? Are there side effects to using the iodine? What is it called again, and what is the dosage that you used? Are you saying the thyroid is related to arthritis. She has it bad in her hands. She is 64 now and hasn't found relief from the arthritis. She also tends to be low energy, which is also a symptom of the thyroid.
There are many books written about the Tao Teh Ching. It is more a philosophy than a religious text. It is wisdom from a thousand years or more, based on the interpretation of Nature and also the injustices the State placed on its citizens in China a long time ago. It is a way of seeing the Universe without thinking of it in a dualistic manner, which we all do everyday. It has helped me to deal with negative emotions in a more positive way, but you really have to open your mind to its teachings. I'm sure not everybody will embrace it, but it is an interesting philosophy. It takes into account all Changes in life. The I Ching is another good text. It is called the Book of Changes. I will look into the books you suggested.Lao
