Same here. It was one of the first things I tried for Lyme about 3 years ago. I had some strong herxing and some overstimulation of the brain kind of thing going on. I had no idea it was MAO-B inhibitor, maybe it is maybe it isn't, I dunno. My overstimulation caused some minor teeth grinding, disturbed sleep, and well just well hard to describe. You know.
For something similar to try instead, there are many good choices but it depends on what you are trying to do. Since you mentioned herx I assume these are efforts to eradicate something, but what....bacteria, fungi/yeast, virus, or parasite? Whichever ones you are trying to target will help focus the choices, because specific herbs have specific strengths against particular things, and usually a combination of 2 or 3 is much for effective.
Anyway, my next choice was Oil of Oregano. I didn't like the taste, and it didn't seem to do anything for about 2 weeks, and then I got hit with probably the worst herx I have ever had, so bad that I had to call out sick from work which I never do, took me days to recover, it was bad. I have no idea what pathogenic microorganisms I was killing, but it was a bullseye. It was so bad though I had to abandon and I never went back to it. I probably should, since it's 3 years later and I've learned so much on dosing strategies.
Anyway, where to go from here depends on what your goal is.
