I've tried all sorts of stuff.

Short of Lunesta or something powerfully sedative, you can work with herbs. They are gentler, softer, slower, not quite as powerful, but can do the job. I've had a lot of experience with it because I had insomnia that was literally keeping me awake 24 hours a day.

These are things I did:

I start sipping Chamomile tea, or any known bedtime tea, early in the evening, around 6pm-7pm. And then another one after that. These sort of set the stage but won't knock you out on their own.

Around 8pm I will take one capsule of passionflower and/or skullcap and/or lemon balm. Again this is to set the stage, but not to knock me out just yet.

Around 10 pm I take 400mg Magnesium Glycinate, 2 capsules of Skullcap, one capsule of Passion flower, and hope for the best. It's usually good for 3 to 5 hours of sleep with all that, if the insomnia is super bad to start with.

The other night I slept from 11pm to 1:30am, I got up, took 2 more capsules of each of the 3 herbs, another MgGlycinate capsule, went back to bed and slept another 3 hours. I had a bit of a dry mouth and sort of a hangover thing that went away quickly. At least I slept some.

I also take during the day things which should set the stage but really didn't help that much - Ashwagandha and Bacopa. Adaptogens. These are great to help the body with illness and stress. Their sedative power just isn't strong enough for me.

I also take during the day 2 sublingual GABA tablets that have 100mg GABA and 25mg Tyrosine in them. And maybe 25mg to 50 mg of 5htp during the day scattered with meals. These are not therapeutic doses. But they help my body provide the raw materials needed for the sleep architecture later that day. Without enough GABA and 5htp and tyrosine floating around, nothing is going to work very well.

And melatonin. I've tried 3mg which didn't do much. 6mg is better. Maybe double that is better.

So anyway those are the tools which I work with for insomnia.

Some people get great benefit with CBD for sleep. I am not one of them.

Some people get great benefit with L-Theanine for sleep. I am not one them.

But those should be considered.

> What can i try for sleep? I dont like using Seroquel or Ativan for that! Passion flower? Kava kava?
