manic depression and weight

Posted by CareBear04 on January 12, 2005, at 2:44:38

hi-- i know everyone reacts differently to things like mania and especially depression. some people overeat and gain weight while others lose weight. at both extremes (i have hypomanias and agitated depressions) food really loses its appeal, and i'm way too preoccupied to think to eat. i'm under suspicion for anorexia-- i don't believe i'm anorexic and neither to my PCP and pdoc-- but i'm wondering if weight loss like this is normal or whether it's indicative of an underlying unconscious tendency towards restricting? any thoughts? thanks!
