I did a quick search, and my semi-educated -- and very, very skeptical -- opinion is "Probably not."

First of all, the web site says that it's "100% water." If so, the concentration of anything else in it, if there is anything, is going to be very, very low.

Second, the clinical research they cite is about the ingredient itself, not about their product. Meaning that, if you really, really want to try it, getting a bottle of the herbal supplement itself would be a better way to go.

Thirdly, doing a quick search on that ingredient shows a lot of marketing information, and not a lot of support. In fact, the one site I found in a quick search that looked like responsible information, says that there's not nearly enough information that it actually works for weight loss at all.

If you are bound and determined to try something like this, and you promise up and down that you really aren't looking for magic, there was a supplement that contained a combination of whatever the ingredient -- which I'm too tired to look up again ;-P -- and chromium. Cross your heart promise that you will never take more than the recommended dose, and that you aren't thinking it will be magic, and I'll say that that might actually help a bit.

What would help much, much more, though, is the suggestion that the Skinny Water site made about drinking a full glass -- or even two -- about half an hour before each meal. I also found it helpful to take Metamucil about half an hour before meals, with a lot of water. I was taking if for antidepressant related constipation, but it also helped reduce my appetite.

I hope that helps.
