it isn't easy to self advocate at times. curerntly there are good days and not so good days. financially things are stressful as usual and tighter than usual until details are worked out. until then the basics (food, shelter) are covered but the rest gets a bit scary.
getting to the self esteem part...
today while running errands discovered that there wasn't enough money for both food shopping for a special dinner for bro and necessities for survival. arrived at one store where we've shopped for almost decade. asked the owner if arrangements could be made for the rest of this month until funds are avail. beginning of next month. owner teared up and said 'think nothing of it, you won't be paying for anything as this is a gift. no repayment necessary. don't even worry about the new year or first couple months.'
*jaw agape in stunned gratitude* wow. ask and ye shall receive!
was proud of the ability to get past stubborn pride and feelings of inadequacy to approach owner and ask for help.
it wasn't easy to ask. it was scary. great practice for asking directly to get one's needs met.
that the response was so generous and kind was a gentle hug to this frazzled soul.
