Hello.
I will think more about your question and see if I can find, in my many books of mysticism and religion, some words of encouragement.
I have also experienced periods of psychosis and frenzy when, through the raw terror, I was also actively aware of a divine presence in the world. Now, I am stable but sadly, although the spiritual life is my deepest concern, I feel dry, very far from God.
I myself can only pray and pray, hoping grace descendes upon my soul. I no longer try to track God down in signs but instead I pray and meditate and create, within myself, a 'small still voice.' This is not easy somedays, yet it is the most important work. Create a stillness in yourself, and find God in mercy and compassion. Once we open to compassion, we must not only love the world, but also learn to love ourselves, to be gentle and forgiving.
I hope you find peace.
