In reply to I'm having Siezures after i try to talk to God, posted by mmcconathy on September 2, 2004, at 22:13:29
I've started and then deleated this post a number of times as I try to find something appropriate to say.
Don't lose heart! I don't know why some of us suffer but I believe there is a plan so far beyond our comprehension that all we can do is love. Love the world in its glory and misery.
When I was diagnosed schizophrenic they gave me brochures that read 'people with mental illness enrich our lives' and then there was a list of famous names, like Virginia Woolf and Tolstoy. It wasn't much consolation so I don't know why I bother to mention this but Dostoevsky and maybe even Sokrates were epileptic. Sokrates would go away alone and be still for a while, almost catatonic, and then say: I was talking to my spirits. And Dostoevsky writes a powerful account of a seizure in his book, 'The Idiot.'
We are close to God in our own unique way. I'm sorry that your proximity to God involves agony at the moment but don't lose sight of God.
