Are we encouraged to respond to this thread even though it is directed to Dr. Williams?
I have lived a few years wondering some of the same things as you. It was when some situations began repeating themselves that I recognized them as tests. Last week I had one such experience, and it shocked me so much that I had to laugh at myself. Then again some things come up and I'll think in frustration, "I am no different than I was 40 years ago". So, yes, I think these things do come up and repeat themselves. Therefore there must be purpose in our being tested, and in getting it right.
I have been very slow to learn in some areas, one being that I want to prove that I can grow in faith while in my folly, and that I can live on both sides of the fence and not get hung up in the middle, caught in the crotch on the barb wire some place. It just can't happen, and God tests us till we figure it out. The farther away we live from the barb wire fence, the safer we are.
Did't Jesus say he would rather have us hot or cold than sitting on the fence? lol
Dena help me out here. You are so much better at explaining this.
