I just happened to see this post.
If by any chance in a million years this is Matt would you please email me? (I have kept the same email address as always)
If it is not then just let me say I had lost a beloved person in my life cold turkey style(he used to post online with the name Malthus and that is why I thought it could possibly be you.)
All I can tell you is it is the most painful emotional experience to lose someone that way -so if you can get back in touch with your friend please do so.
