Saw, drink lots of water. This can be the cataylst for a diuretic to work. The more water you drink, the more you will pee, and the more you pee, the better your system gets at eliminating water.
Sometimes our bodies retain water because we are not getting enough water, so the body goes into panic mode and holds on to as much as possible.
Try it for one day, drink one large glass of water over an hour evey hour until you've had eight glasses. If you don't start producing copious amounts of light coloured urine, tell your doc.
If it works, and you pee lots (is "pee" uncivil?), keep it up, drink that much every day.
The reason I say to let your doc know if it doesn't work is that it could mean a problem with kidneys.
Normally when I start to feel water weight gain, I do that. I have never had to take diuretics because I do the water thing. It works every time. My mother taught me to do this.
Water, NOT juice, tea, coffee, soda, etc. Nice, clean, fresh, lovely water. You can have the others too, just not in place of water, but in addition to it. This is a non-invasive, non-medical way of dealing with this.
And again, I sure would consider food allergies. Elimination of suspected allergens is another non-invasive, non-medication way of trying to sort out a health problem.
