I haven't seen the PBS program, but my SigO has been researching diabetes some recently, and he told me that one of the most strongly predictive factors for doing well, with diabetes-- ie staying off insulin, or even with insulin, not suffering any of the too-frequent problems, is taking one's blood sugar regularly--several times a day. Sounds hard--
but, it's that simple-- unfortunately many people with diabetes don't do it-- yet those who do, regularly maybe three or even more times a day, have remarkably good outcomes.
So, Dinah-- keep up with it. Even if you don't feel you need it-- it's what will keep you from needing it--
so, yeah, I'll be nagging ya.
