Apparently pristiq doesn't really boost dopamine the way effexor does. This makes this me too drug even lamer than its predecessor. I guess it has less side effects, but I wonder how effective it will be in the long run, especially when dose escalations don't increase dopamine?
If you look closely at the following studies you will see that venlafaxines(effexor) Ki value for DAT is around 7000 nano mols.
Desvenlafaxine has a DAT Ki of 100 in the mirco mol range. So it actually has less effect on DA than venlafaxine! The DAT blocking effect must belong to one of the abandoned metabolites.
