Effexor? Not very effective!

Posted by magenta on October 29, 2004, at 18:32:39

Hello I am brand new to the message board. I am trying to discontinue Effexor on my own. I am gaining weight, getting hot flashes and sweats (can't wear sweaters - too warm) and that !zap! feeling of electricity in my head if I am late for my dose or if I turn my head too quickly. My question: Why did my doctor prescribe this for panic disorder? I read the Entire fact sheet that comes with the sample pack, and nowhere on there does it say that Effexor is indicated for treatment of panic disorder. I was taking Prozac before, and Zoloft before that! I am sick of being a slave to medication. Does anyone think it is a good idea to just stop gradually? Help!
