Hey, Fractal. There are many alternatives to pharmaceuticals for depression and anxiety treatment. There's a board here for that (Alternatives).
I have benefited from learning relaxation techniques, and meditation. Sometimes just a few moments in the middle of the day can return calmness if you started out on the wrong side of the bed :)
Deepak Chopra has an excellent guided meditation CD I have used, it's called "the Soul of Healing Meditations". I bought it at Amazon.
