hi. i'm glad you shared your honesty.
what helped me the most is kind of strange, but i'll offer it; maybe it will help. i ended up thinking of things that i didn't want people to know about me/find. and i didn't want to die maybe until tomorrow until i threw this&that away. i also started (probably subconsciously) ordering things that would be delivered in the mail. since i didn't want anybody to have those things, i would convince myself to stay alive until they had arrived.
some of the preparation that goes through your head when you have gotten to the actually planning it out stage is wanting to have all your ducks in a row and taken care of. it's different for everybody, but it's also similar. this may sound strange, but if your house is a mess or you've got bills laying out or unpaid, you're less likely to carry it out at least until you've got your house cleaned up, the bills paid, etc.
all the other stuff is helpful, too- telling a friend, staying realllllllly preoccupied with a very engrossing project (it has to be really engrossing to get all of your attention, though) using your meds (if you have them) even if you don't "feel" like taking them.
i'm so sorry it's so tough. i've been where you are. fight if you can. reaching out was good that you did.
