hi mmcconathy
i think it's for the most part 'normal' but only if it doens't interfere or effect your sleep negatively. i have many hypnogogic/hypnopompic episodes that are terrrifying and effect sleep negatively (the ones that involve acoustics are much more terrifying than the ones without but those are bad too). i also many many times hear 'chatter' when i'm very tired, that's why i tend to leave the tv on and let my hubby turn it off, that way i can say it's not me hearing things that aren't there i just blame the tv. my only guess is due to possible overstimulation during that day???...as this does not occur daily.
