PSAS is Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome. If anyone has it, can you let me know, or bbmail me?
Here's some info on it:
"PSAS was first diagnosed in 2001 and little is known about the disorder.
Persistent sexual arousal syndrome results in a spontaneous and persistent genital arousal, with or without orgasm, unrelated to stimulation or feelings of sexual desire. In particular, it is not related to hypersexuality. Physical arousal caused by this syndrome can be very intense and persist for extended periods, days or weeks at a time; orgasm does not provide relief. The symptoms can be debilitating, preventing concentration on mundane tasks."
"There are long term emotional consequences of living with PSAS. These include disruptions in occupational, educational, and social functioning, feelings of helplessness, vulnerability, sadness, and suicidal tendencies in some women."
"It is a common misconception that it would pave way for a pleasant sensation in women. The truth is however that the condition is extremely distressing for someone who suffers from the condition. Many women have suicidal thoughts. For a man, an analogous situation might be having a constant erection that is not the result of sexual desire or stimulation. A man who experiences an erection that lasts longer than 4 hours is told to seek emergency treatment."
"PSAS may in fact be classified as a type of pain disorder, and that it may be closely associated with other chronic pelvic floor dysfunctions, such as interstitial cystitis and vulvodynia."
