Yes muffled, I've noticed that too. I've had a fairly good day today and already part me of cant imagine how I felt yesterday, although I'm fairly sure it'll be back tomorrow. I think it's an automatic defense mechanism our body sets up. Otherwise itd just be impossible to come out of, always being so intensely aware of what was coming. You're very right.
I've never had children, but I always hear that you dont remember the pain of childbirth or you'd never do it again. I know that's true with kidney stones. I've had them more than once and always forget how bad it really is.
For me, it runs the opposite way too. In the pit, theres no seeing outside of it. No remembering what it feels like not to be in it. Thats why it gets so hopeless I guess.
