On Monday my therapist told me a joke - it was a very difficult session for me and actually the humour worked a treat in bringing me back down to earth again.
A theme of the session was the way my mother concealed the abuse that went on - how things on the outside were at odds with the reality on the inside, and also her failure to acknowledge her abusive behaviour.
So he rather fittingly told the story of 3 mothers each trying to convince the others that her son loved her more.
The first mother said "My son loves me so much that he brings me a lovely bunch of flowers each week".
The second mother said "Well my son loves me so very much that he takes me out to dinner every weekend".
The third mother, by this point looking rather smug with herself, said "Well my son loves me so so much that he visits someone 5 times a week, to simply lie down and talk all about me!".
Have your Ts ever told you jokes?
