T says I am resilient

Posted by Poet on August 9, 2008, at 12:00:43

Main Entry: re·sil·ient

Characterized or marked by resilience: as a: capable of withstanding shock without permanent deformation or rupture b: tending to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change.

I'm not that sure about adjusting easily to misfortune or change. I generally don't do well with change at all. I don't rearrange furniture because I like it to stay where I put it originally when I moved in the house.

I'm not terribly sure about capable of withstanding shock without permanent deformation either. I've been in therapy for six years and continue to avoid the bad stuff. I guess I withstand shock without permanent deformation by denying I was ever shocked.

In any case my T said she admires me for my resilience, so I will take her word for it that I am resilient.
