Years ago, before my own condition was under control, I was in the hospital with a young woman who was manic. She was hilarious, irrepressible, and a lot of fun to be around... until... she would suddenly get very paranoid, vicious, and you could really imagine her gunning you down without a thought. It was chilling. She also had psychotic paranoid fantasies - spies following her taxi cab, etc, that left her very agitated. No, I would say that being in a full-blown manic state is not very much fun at all.
