Good question. In my case, I made multiple appointments and insurance paid for them all. If you don't have insurance or have lousy insurance, then I don't know. I suppose you could ask for an informational interview at a discount, but this takes some self-assurance, which, when you are feeling emotionally unstable, you might not be able to muster. Some people interview therapists over the phone, but this wouldn't have worked for me. I needed to actually meet with people and see how they made me feel.
