Hi Shellie,
I think this is really an interesting question. My male psychiatrist (who does meds and therapy) insisted I see a female psychologist who specializes in childhood abuse issues. I was unable to speak to him about this, just as I was unable to speak to my first male psychiatrist, with whom I had a relationship that had lots of boundary issues. So I think I tend to seek male psychiatrists (I'm sure Freud would have had lots to say about that), but I find myself very comfortable with this particular female psychologist. I really think the personality of the therapist has a lot to do with this more than gender though, since I have a great deal of problems with trust and have been through over a dozen shrinks that I wouldn't return to. Just some of my thoughts. Take care, Judy
