greetings (i'm feeling so much better)

Posted by mars on May 13, 2001, at 18:05:31

hey everybody (mair, noah, nikki, scott, shellie, shar, cam, greg, and the rest of the wunnerful folks on this board) ~

hiya. i am *so* sorry i've been so absent. it's a combination of (1) computer problems (boo!) and feeling better (yeah!).

i wrote a long post a month or so ago, and then lost it, so i have tried to contact y'all.

here's what's going on: i'm off all meds, except a bit of lithium. i think the reboxetine and naltrexone helped a lot to get me on my feet again. i'm bathing regularly, getting out every day, doing things ~ it's kind of amazing not to be soooo depressed anymore. i've started getting massages (big step for me, i have a difficult time letting anyone touch me), which has been VERY helpful ~ my massage therapist does a combination of swedish massage and cranial sacral, and it's really been having a profound effect on me. i've also started with a new therapist, a woman with a background in hellerwork, massage, movement therapy, and talk therapy. i've seen her for two 80-minute sessions so far, and i do like her quite a bit. she's in her early 50's, i think, very intelligent and graceful and funny and perceptive. it's too early yet to say how things will go between us, but we did hit it off quite well and so far i am encouraged.

it turns out i DO have myasthenia gravis, not serotonin syndrome, but i am striving to take an attitude of "how can i live with this" rather than falling into despair. i am actually walking every day, even if i hafta walk very, *very* slowly.

well, i have to go, but it looks like my 'puter problems are finished, and i should be around.

best to all,

mars
