The other day I watched a made-for-TV movie that was simply called "Molly". I can't get this movie out of my mind. It was just so good, so well-done,
with an intelligent and sympathetic view of mental illness.

Molly is an autistic woman who has been cared for in a mental institution for most of her adult life. After the institution is closed down, Molly's brother attempts to care for her in his home, but he is quite challanged by Molly's illness.

After an experimental medical procedure, Molly's autism gradually begins to recede. As her personality emerges from the world of mental illness, everyone is charmed by Molly. She's clever, happy, funny, and loving, with flashes of the savant. Unfortunately, the medical procedure is only temporary.

This wonderful little movie is well worth seeking out and watching.
