she does have a gift that developed early. I'm impressed that she can do this at such a young age.
The art isn't my style though; I wouldn't choose to decorate my home with it. Some of the poetry shows promise - I would like to see what she writes in another 10 or 15 years! (Or maybe even 5!)
Do you think some people blossom early and stagnate? Will this girl continue to develop, or is she "done" and this is the best her art will be?
If the artist were a 45-yr-old, would we be as impressed? If you didn't know how old the artist was, would you still like the art?
For me, those are the kinds of questions I like to think about. I think that I would not be impressed if the artist were older. Obviously there is a talent here, but I wouldn't consider this "great" art. It kind of reminds me of those velvet Elvis paintings that you can buy on the boardwalk.
But I know that sounds petty and mean, and I DO admire this girl. She IS talented, and I bet she's very interesting. It's just that even though the art is better than I could draw, and matches the skill of a person 20-40 years older, I still don't really like it.
Is that mean to say?
What do you think?JenStar
