Yes it is possible to get SSI for those symptoms.
You have to prove that they are severely disabling. Usually a diagnosis of schizophrenia and several years treatment will do this. You must not be employed currently. You have to prove that you are facing a long-term disability.
For SSI you also have to be broke. As in you may not have more than $2000. You cannot save any money on SSI.
If you have a truly severe illness and have never been able to work SSI is perfect for you. Usually the treating physician will tell you to apply for disability if they think you are qualified. If you feel you are disabled but you haven't been told to apply for disability it might be best to question your treating physician about this. Usually they will support your claim if you have a psychotic disorder.
Remember, a diagnosis of schizophrenia is a lot more than "hearing voices" and depression and anxiety claims are usually denied. It is helpful to have documented negative and cognitive symptoms. If you have these your doctor will have noted them on your chart.
