Indian Roads

Okay, we're spoiled.
Have to say it, guys, but you ought to see the traffic here, if you think we have something to complain about. I read what I wrote just a short time ago about the motorcyclist dodging two lanes of traffic and I feel like laughing.
Try five vehicles abreast on a highway with no lanes. That's one direction. Then five in the other direction.
Motorcycles and scooters everywhere, no rules of the road at all. No helmets. Women riding sidesaddle on the back hanging on to literally nothing, so casually, sometimes with a child as young as two years in the lap of the driver (we're still talking motorbike/scooter BTW). Cars dodging pedestrians, bikes, each other. Horns honk constantly; horns serve as rule-makers and rule-breakers. There are no traffic lights. Driving is a matter of keeping all your wits about you at all times. The men who drive the scooters and motorbikes (most drivers are men, I think I've seen two females driving so far) have eyes that could bore holes into you with their attentiveness .. these people are on edge. Rightfully so.
