Jane Goodall. No question about it -- Jane Goodall. I'd love it if she brought her son Grub, too, but Jane Goodall is my answer. She radiates such peace, and I'd like to bask in that serenity. And if everyone behaves, I could listen to her talk about the population at Gombe all night, and feel safer, and more secure.
Otherwise, harder to say. Maybe Fannie Flagg -- I love the humor in her books, and her characters all come from such nutty families, she'd be able to make a funny story out of mine.
Jasper Fforde? Funny books, at any rate...
Jon Stewart -- now there's someone who could keep me entertained enough to forget what's going on around me. He'd be on my list...
My husband suggested Don Rickles, because "his schtick is ripping into people." I'm not sure I'd like that, but you never know... His alternate is Arnold Schwarzenegger -- because "he's my mother-in-law's favorite dramatic actor..." Sadly, that might be true... Although my mother would only describe him that way in fun, she does like his movies -- and making fun of him, now that he's, you know, the Governator.
So, what time shall we expect Dr Goodall to arrive? (Frans de Waal would be a good back up -- less serenity, but at least I'd be interested in his conversation all night long...)
Oh, for purely recreational purposes, I wouldn't mind an evening with Chris Noth -- but I'm not sure I'd want my mother watching...
