You know...I remember the Blizzard of '77, and that, at the time, was just like an 'extra snowy day' up here in Canuckda. I remember snowmobiling through all the main streets, and through downtown on the main roads, which no car or other type vehicle could or would dare try to use.
I remember not being able to see out of the kitchen window, up half a floor, because the snow was piled up against our house. Once the streets where cleared of snow, there was about 5 inches of ice underneath, so you could go and skate to your friend's house! We would build snow forts so HUGE, with tunnels..geez you could put an indoor plumbing system in those things. A Snowman/Snowwoman/SnowHermaphrodite would last for 6 months! After playing outside in our head-to-toe snow suits, we'd go inside and our Mom's or Dads would have hot chocolate and tons of goodies for us. We'd play until the sun set, and at night, strap on our ice skates and go crazy palying Hockey Night in Canada on our outdoor rink Dad made and faithfully waters every night. The sad part is, no child these days, in most parts of the world, gets to experience this joy of childhood. Instead they play in the contaminated muck and acid rain.Ohh..and another big joy....to pee in the snow, write your name, write poetry, write bad names about certain teachers engaging in certain kinds of fellatio on each other. Hey....now that is priceless!!Man, that was just...soooo cool! Back then, winter was winter..from mid November to March, before all those CEO's and corporations and right-wingers had a chance to pollute the atmosphere enough to create global warming. So, New Orleans IS sinking, the polar bears are going to be extinct within the next 50 years, extinction rates are off the charts, there may come a time when it will never snow again...ever.(We'll all have to walk around in radiation suits..24/7)..but doesn't that bloated SUV look so pretty in the driveway? Where's my Vodka?....ughhh..
