I can't speak for everyone, but I would agree it is part of human nature to want things that one can't have. It's certainly true for myself and my friends.
Mountain of experience with colorful relationships have brought me some welcomed wisdom, but in the past, when a guy I turned down became unavailable, I would often throw my hat back in the ring...which would result in headaches and complications. :(
I blame my neurosis, but the fact was, the less available, the more valuable it became... I think, also W. Allen's quote about "not wanting to belong to a club that would have me as a member" was also in my equation of push and pull on a relationship. Thank goodness I know better now, cause it was exhausting. :)
You seem to understand the motives behind the sudden interest from the girls from the past. So yeah, don't take it seriously, and focus on your new relationship. Good luck with your new lovely and interesting lady! :)
