Last friday afternoon around 4pm after eating some tinned soup and bread and pringles I started feeling unwell so went for a lie down. I woke up 5 hours later at 9pm with a severe throbbing pain at the front of my head and the sensation all over my body of increased heartbeat and blood pressure. My pulse felt really fast and I could literally hear and feel it in my head. The throbbing pain at the front of my head gradually moved back and then started radiating outwards and was absolute agony with every heartbeat. This gradually got worse until I was writhing around on the bed expecting to have a heart attack and die at any time. I was sweating alot, and very thirsty but didnt dare try to get up or move off the bed. Eventually after a few more hours I decided to try and get some water and also my mobile phone incase I nearly to call an ambulance. I drank some water and tried to lie still and breathed slow. First I decided to take my pulse rate so counted the beats and it was 89 in 1 minute. I think this was quite high, since I've taken my pulse rate since and it's normally 66-70 beats a minute. Anyway, the rapid heart beat and intense pain continued and lasted for 15 hours in total! eventually subsiding to a dull pain which lasted about another 12 hours. I took 3 painkillers during this time but they did little to stop the pain. Was this a hypertensive crisis?
