> I wish I was not addicted to coffee, I have known for a long time that the one problem in my diet is coffee. Sometimes I wake up feeling reenergized from sleep and then go for coffee, then to my dismay I scratch my head saying why did I drink that coffee now I feel tired again. Coffee perks you up but just like any drug, there is a CRASH at the end.

Sure, coffee/caffeine is an addictive drug, but I find for me it tends to be self limiting - I am not powerless over it as I am over alcohol or other drugs. Sometimes I take more than is good for me - then I just decide "tomrrow I'll only brew two cups". Many people I know have successfully kicked the coffee habit or switched to decaf (NB - which usually still contains SOME caffeine). At the very least, I know of no-one who has had to go through detox for coffee ;-)I don't want to sound like I'm minimizing your difficulty - we are all different, and this may be a big problem for you - but I (and most people I know) find the withdrawal symtoms from caffeine are mild and short-lived. If it's causing a problem in your life, eliminate it. Use whatever tools have helped you with other addictions (assuming you have such). If you can't do it on your own, ask for help - you've already made a start on that by posting here.
Good luck,
Tony
