A rule of thumb with hallucinegenics (shrooms, l.s.d., l.s.a., d.m.t./ayahuasca, salvia divinorum, mescaline ect) is if you're very nervous and generally not feeling good about taking them at the time you are about to take them then you're more likely to have a bad trip. There's nothing dangerous about a bad trip apart from "feeling" scared, "thinking" you're going to die, having panic attacks, paranoia ect. A good tip is to medatite on your own for a half an hour before you take them. Have a calm mind. Understand you are about to unlock doors in your mind and feel good about it. If your trip is strong, embrace it, go with the flow and enjoy it. NEVER fight it or worry, thats how bad trips happen!!!
Always have a friend who is not taking anything with you even if it's a group of you taking them, thats just a precaution in case you all start thinking you can fly or something (it does happen believe it or not), or in case one of you starts to panic. It's highly unlikely anything too strong will happen on shrooms, they're usually mild and enjoyable (apart from nausea)and only last a few hours unlike acid which can be EXTREME and you're in for it for about 12 hours.
Whatever you want to happen on shrooms will happen. You start thinking about death and snakes then you're in for a morbid trip. But if you take it as a spiritual awakening, a devine shamanistic experience ect, well you're in for an awakening.
Don't take any benzodiazepines or any of your Ambien on the day of taking as they will lessen the effect, on the other hand they will bring you down if you're having an experience you don't want to have. Orange juce will also bring you down.
All in all, enjoy it, you won't have any problems of interactions with the meds you're on so go for it. Open up a new level of consciousness, you're about to enter a whole new world of perception and it may change your life for the better.
There's some great books out there on psychedelics by people like Terrence McKenna and Tim Leary that will help you understand hallucinegenics and consciousness in a different light, and you may see your trip and future trips as more than just a fun time with friends.
