I'm new here and was wondering if someone may be able to suggest a doctor in the Boston area that is NOT benzo-phobic. I've been dealing with heavy anxiety for a couple years that has been growing increasingly worse to the point that family members are afraid to even talk to me anymore. My temper is very short, my blood boils at the smallest things that other can let roll off their shoulders easily and I fly into fits so easily. I was never like this until my mom died 3 years ago.
I have asked some close to me and the mere mention of the word Valium and you'd think I was asking for heroin. I do not plan to take it every day, I know better than that but the few who have not gotten high & mighty on me have told me forget it, no doctor is going to give me Valium.
I have taken this before 25 years ago and know how it works on me, and am well aware of Valium's dark side. This is what I want...I do not want Xanax nor Klonopin. I may need it a short time, I may need it several months, or several years...I do not know.
The family doctor I did consult with laughed and told me I didn't need Valium "Go take a walk, or exercise in some way." I'm glad he understands what I'm going through. Maybe if he lived with me a couple weeks he'd understand better.
Does anybody know of any Boston area doctors who are not adverse to giving scripts for it? I'm at my wits end and I need to get my life back.
