Hi S,
I'll mention it when I'm able to talk with his doctor on Monday.
It's a difficult situation, as I'm half a country away AND he's an adult (supposedly) - 22. I'm Mom, calling from halfway across Canada. The doctor is very nice; that's the good thing.
I'll mention that so many people are suggesting zyprexa. According to someone on here, doctors in British Columbia must have special permission to prescribe it. Isn't it really expensive? I suspect that's why.Anyway, I will mention it to the doctor.
Did I tell on here that my genius son was doing well by Tuesday, going out into the hospital (instead of being scared of people hurting him even on the locked ward). Then in the evening, he was on the enclosed roof with his GF & found a roach in his pocket; took a few puffs (!!!!!!!!!!!) and became totally psychotic again.
I spoke with him the next day & he was TOTALLY dillusional, unless he really IS in danger of getting killed & if he doesn't do it himself his family will get 'done in' also! :-(((((It was horrible hearing that & hearing him say, "Mom, I know the weed made me really upset again, but this is REALLLLLLLLLLL. Nobody will even consIder believing me." etc.
So they have added seroquel or something. He sounded very drugged today & says he TIRED - sleeps during the day; can't sleep at night. But he said he thinks the medication is starting to help somewhat & not a mention of plots or killings or anything like that.
I have to try to remain detached & know that I can do nothing anyway. If he was younger I'd probably have more control.
Anyhow, thanks all, for your support & caring & suggestions.
Kath
