In reply to sexual addicts anyone?, posted by bird in the sky on March 14, 2008, at 2:20:33
I never read "Portnoy's Complaint" but I was told about it. There was an event concerning the beef roast. So when you say you have never read of anyone similar to you I wonder if you have had a sheltered life when it comes to reading?
The other thing is that your 'bad habits' are perhaps some reflection of the compromise you come to between your instinctual drives and your social situation. People used to be married off by the time they were (what?) 15 (maybe?).
Or what if you lived in an indiginous society where around that age there were all these initiation ceremonies to occupy your drives.
Some of these were pretty strange.
While your behaviour can be seen as as a personal problem, it is also a reflection of the social world in which you live.Masturbation when on the phone?
Sounds like an attempt of your libido to make a connection in this atomised and often lonely world. As for the sex addicts thing?
This society again turns everything into an addiction.
We are meant to be obsessed with sex.
When is enough enough for you?
