To discontinue Lexapro entirely, you might want to try some of the things you'll find on this Psycho-Babble Withdrawal board. You will find a few different methods of mitigating or avoiding the discontinuation withdrawal syndrome.

After several unsuccessful attempts to get off of Lexapro, I followed what someone on the board suggested a while back...I had the doctor switch me over to LIQUID Lexapro when I got down to 5mgm/day. (Just getting there took three months!)
I decreased in milligrams using a syringe to measure, over a six week period -- never decreasing more that an ml at a time/week and staying on the same dose for a week to ten days.
It felt like FOREVER, but then I would remember the withdrawal that I went through on previous attempts and that helped me to be patient.
Remember, it can take up to six too eight weeks for withdrawal symptoms to appear. GH
