Someone please help i am on 20mg of celexa when should it start to work
Ihave been on it for 6 days all the people saying it worked right away
is making me feel like it won't work for me because all I feel is a sedative
effect. Please help

I am not familiar with celexa, but usually, people talk about meds taking days or weeks to really kick in.

Hi Crystal--
When I started Celexa, I thought I was feeling better after a week, but then my period came and I crashed. I stuck with it though, and it's been augmented with Wellbutrin. Hang in there for at least six weeks. I thought the same thing as you, but now that I have been on for a month and a half, I can tell a difference. > http://www.michele.rainville.com>Crystal - Celexa is an SSRI antidepressant like Paxil, Zoloft, Luvox & Prozac. These drugs (and most antidepressants) take 4 to 6 weeks to show full effect. In the first week or two the side effects are the worst, but lessen as your body adjusts to the drug. Celexa or citalopram (it's generic drug name) is the most selective serotonin, a neurotransmitter that lacking in most people with depression. Thus, it is thought to have fewer side effects than the rest. Keep on taking it for at least another 3 to 5 weeks and give it a chance to exert it's full effect. Good luck. - Cam W.

I believe it took around 2 weeks for me to feel like "hey, this is going to work". the side effects were tough at first (sweating, headaches) but I did notice that each month with my cycle I would feel like nothing was working. Doesn't make sense but it was like the hormones overpowered the meds. Now after 7 months I am still not agressive sexually but can achieve orgasm with patience. I am grateful for the Celexa. It pulled me out of the black hole.
