I can't give you medical advice, but I understand that withdrawal does not have to = Hell. Have you quit cold turkey or weaned off (lowered your dose a bit at a time)? That can make a big difference.
Also, some people at this site have used small doses of Prozac as sort of a transition assistance med.
Do not worry! It sounds like your situation is manageable.
Good Luck - Shar

ANTIDEPRESSANT...JUST GOING ON THE THEORY STUFF. ANY TIPS ON HOW TO DO THIS ?shar - thanks for your reassuring response. No I'm not going cold turkey - I'm slowly decreasing the amounts of Zoloft. I'm down to 25mg every 3rd day. The decrease plus the usual stuff from a former partner, adolescent sons & visits to the dentist for a molar extraction make me feel the withdrawals more I suppose. kate k

Hi kate, I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. Unfortunately, I can't be much help, because I've never(to my knowledge) suffered any withdrawels from any of the drugs I've been on.
I do wish you the best of luck though, and I'm sure that the 'odd' feelings will begin to fade soon. CarolAnn

This is week 2 of coming off it for me.
Part of me will miss this pill, another part of me thinks 'good riddance'. I am tired of being a slave to a pill which has side effects.
If only St John's wort worked.

> If only St John's wort worked.AW - I'm up to nearly 6 weeks of no Zoloft, I'm ok, sort of. I'm noticing I'm more in touch with how I'm feeling eg crying occasionally, feeling good - sometimes. The last couple of weeks I've had my 13 year old finally start on counselling, a mediation session with my ex partner (his dad), the usual stresses of my work and to top it off 2 tooth extractions (I grind my teeth with stress and I've damaged them) so I think I'm doing well.....then there was the guy at the post office who just started yelling at me, my sister chucking a mental and some carpet cleaning guy doing a stand over thing re: payment. Sorry to babble on but I've just realized that I've been thru' a lot and I'm okay! I hope things go well for you AW, some people I know swear by ST John's Wort, it sort of worked for me. But I don't want any tablets - herbal or not..see ya katek

Dear Kate
Before Zoloft I used to get so cranky at people. I used to fight with family members and would convince myself that they deserved it. The tiniest issues would set me off. I am surprised that anyone in my family speaks to me these days. ALthough they see a much different person now. They love seeing me, they love doing things with me. I nearly also lost some good friends during my pre-Zoloft days. I would find any reason to get the shits with something they did.The thing for me though is that ZOloft is blocking out my problems so I can function on a day to day basis. I need to address these problems as I feel that I have blamed my depression for all my hassles. The problems still exist and all Zoloft has done has made me not think of them as much.
Long term use of such a pill has started to attract interest. I have heard that it can damage brain wiring.
I will miss many of the benefits of Zoloft but I will try really hard to live without it. If I find I am becoming like I used to be, I might try something like Serzone again - however, Serzone is not an SSI pill and therefore is less effective for my problem (which I believe is clinical depression).
Something else. Since I have been on Zoloft I never get sad or cry - I sometimes miss what it feels like to be down (as those feelings are part of human emotiions).
Anyway, all I can do is wait and see. It's good to know there are people out there who have expereinced similar problems. I'd really like to know how things are for you now.
Best wishes, AW

Kate-
How are you doing now? It's been nearly two months since your first post on Zoloft withdrawal. I too experienced the buzzy feeling. And a walloping increase in irritability. But it does go away. Eventually. The worst for me wasn't the buzzy-ness but the dramatic return to the bad way I was feeling before. Now I'm on Prozac. Hope you're feeling better. Laura

LauraThanks for the thoughts Laura, yes the buzziness and walloping irritability are annoying but I think i'm doing well considering all the stuff that's happened (see previous posts) PLUS THE BLOODY OLYMPIC TORCH came through my village on Sunday - I'm just not into this stuff, I really wanted to put it out...not very community spirited.oh well...take care kate k (plus I keep pressing the wrong button to submit my posts and they get lost in the ethers - I've got 3 weeks off from work coming up, I'm lying low!)
