No side effects after 9 days on Lexapro, yay!

Posted by Ame Sans Vie on April 9, 2003, at 17:14:55

Well... almost none. I seem to have a bit of a problem with anorgasmia, but not nearly as bad as with Paxil (guess I could always ask my new pdoc about Periactin or Wellbutrin, but she's a woman and I'd feel sort of embarrassed, lol). And I actually think it's already starting to work; a far cry from the 8 weeks it used to take for me to get any benefit from an SSRI. So my new meds are 20mg (moving up to 30mg in less than two weeks) Lexapro and 7.5mg Tranxene bid-- also 150mg Elavil before bed, 30mg Flexeril bid, and 350mg Soma qid, all those for fibromyalgia.

So has anyone else who tried Lexapro end up having it start to work this fast?

And one more thing-- I can't *stand* the dry mouth from the Elavil and Flexeril... any suggestions? Thanks!

Ame, what country are you from? As an American I can't give you advise if you are from France.
Just kidding lol :)

Lexapro often starts to work in a couple of days. There is nothing wrong with going up to 30 mg, but is that because you feel that you need more than 20? I wouldn't automatically plan to increase to 30 unless 20 was not working very well since the potential for side effects may increase with a higher dose.

Hi,

The Lexapro still hasn't reached its full abilities, I'd say... and it was my psychiatrist's idea to titrate the dose up rather quickly (I spent six days on 10mg, now I've been on 20mg for four days). She said just to lower the dose if the side effects get bad--she proposed that if, for example, 30mg is too much, then I may try 25mg instead of going all the way back down to 20mg. I already have a pill-cutter that I use for my Flexeril, so that shouldn't be a problem.

P.S. Nope, I'm not French, lol
