Q for ace or somebody else /Nardil

Posted by Mats on June 28, 2003, at 2:04:51

Hi,

I have been on Nardil 30mg now for about 3 weeks and though my depression has reduced quit a bit I feel very uneasy and somwhat restless. Sometimes I get panic that I never really believed I had. But somethimes I feel really energic and up to do something, something I think is a good thing.
Anyway, is this a good "startup" dose and what dose should I settle on? My doctor seems quit a bit uneasy with this med and just trows anti-food restictions towards me!

I may also state that my diagnos is severe Major depression. Month ago I really felt how it feelt like to be a vegetable. I believed i was in this state for about one year.

Beside any sideeffects I may experience with this med I feel more alive then I have in years!

Hi Mats!,

I think you should push it up to 60mg, leave it there for 4 weeks and then see what happens. 30mg is preety week, but it might work for you- you can always go back down if need be.

A bit of agitation, may be just a s/effect (it's listed as a possible one). Unless this gets very bad, I'd let it be. It really should pass. Or use Valium PRN. Also at a higher dose I can't see you getting these- due to the way Nardil effects GABA- the 'calm' neurotransmitter.

Remember, one has to achieve 80% inhibition for full effects with Nardil. Although this usually translates to a 45-60mg dose, for some people it doesn't.

Good luck, and be patient my friend!

Ace.

Question for Ace (or others w/ experience)

I've been fine at 60mg for about 4 weeks. Whenever I raise to 90 I get that agitation. Since I'm doing good at 60mg (no sweating, heart racing, etc... depression under control, although motivation could be better) is there any reason to go to 90mg? If you could please take a sec and answer these questions. Thanks!

1. What is your relief like?
2. Are you very out-going?
3. Do you think you may be borderline hypomanic/manic?
4. How's your depression?
5. Do you have so-so days, or is everyday a magical joy?
6. How's motivation? (1-10 scale)

Best wishes,
Carlos

With Nardil big time! With gals too! Last time on Nardil I got over 15 numbers, but when I stopped I got none! I am always a sill kinda person, but Nardil, cause I'm so happy on it, makes me even more so!
