hi,
i have been on topamax for about 5 weeks, and just 2 days ago went up to 200 mg. I understand this is usually the dosage that results in weight loss or suppression of appetite. I have not yet noticed either of those things, and I would realy like to lose the weight I have gained from Paxil and Lexapro. Is it possible that the it will still "kick in" or am I just one of the not so lucky ones? I know everyone is different. I have not noticed the other cognitive side effects either. Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated.Jessie

yes i was on topamax. once you start to get the tingling every time you eat, or the wind blows in your face or you touch something, your appeitie should diminish, im my experience. also, you may notice blurry vision. this is when i lost 10-15ibs in about a month on 200 a day, tho i was on 400 the 4th week..eek, then i couldnt remember things, like what my punch number was at work it was terrible. heh. interesting drug...

Hi Jessie,
I read your post and I thought I was reading about myself. I was on Pax to begin with and now on Lex. I have a pdoc appt next week (27th) and I'm going to ask for Topamax as I have gained so much weight since November 2003 with Paxil and Lexapro. Keep me posted on your weight loss --- okay. That's what I was on and lost weight, 200 mgs that is...
I know I didn't "feel" it ASAP. It jsut gradually happened. I've lost over 20 lbs (from Lithium! Eck!) and my appetite is gone completely. It just takes some time to "kick in" I guess. But, again I didn't feel it as soon as I started 200. It just gradually happened. Strange, eh?

thanks for your feedback. I have not felt any difference yet in my appetite, but I have not been on the 200 mg for a full week yet. I see my doctor in a month. I guess I will see where I am then? It is so hard to be patient:)
